Oscar’s been taking short, supervised trips outside. The supervised part is much to his dismay; it’s really hard to hunt for mice when the human and that noisy dog follow you everywhere! He loves being outside and gets around really well. He can really get up and scoot when he decides to run!
A couple days ago we explored the area behind the garage and the edge of the pasture behind that. However, we think (or the human thinks) we’ve found a good spot – the hay barn! Oscar can go in and climb up and down and sit and wait for any sign of things to hunt. His human can sit quitely with him, which keeps the human happy, and that noisy dog can sit a ways away so as not to scare off anything he might find. He likes to sit on the top bales and watch, ever so carefully to see if anything is moving. I think he could spend hours…
In other news, he’s adapted quite well to being inside and being spoiled rotten 😉 He is, I think, still doing some recuperating as he seems to get tired pretty quickly, but overall he’s doing well. His kitty siblings, Wally and Boo, seem to have adjusted okay to him being inside more, although they still bat at him, he’s starting to get the hang of sitting on those back feet and swatting back but more often than not he just ignores them and goes on. He just seems to be a happy little guy. For that we are so very thankful!
